THE FULL STORY
I make hand-built stoneware ceramics that bring my own imagined stories into the physical world. My work is rooted in a slightly off-kilter universe, inspired by Victorian aesthetics and the faded spectacle of a crumbling freakshow.
I tend to work in a mostly monochrome palette, building up surfaces with layered, dirty washes so each piece feels worn, weathered and lived-in. The figures that emerge are peculiar, expressive and, I hope, quietly endearing, shaped as much by their surroundings as by their own character.
There’s a balance I’m always looking for between the theatrical and the restrained. I want the work to feel a little unsettling, but also oddly elegant, like something discovered rather than made.
